  • A day's climbing on a classic route up Ben Nevis or Glencoe
  • Qualified mountaineering instructor as your personal guide
  • Head back to base for a sauna and steam
  • Take home a CD-Rom of photos of your day
  • Great for beginners and more experienced climbers

Got a head for heights, nerves of steel and a love of the great outdoors? Don't mind chilly Scottish weather or the occasional midge bite? Then head to the Highlands for a day's climbing on one of the world's classic mountaineering routes. With the services of a private guide, you'll tackle a route up either Ben Nevis or Glencoe. It will be challenging, exhausting and occasionally nerve-racking - but also uplifting, inspiring and breathtakingly beautiful. You'll be supplied with all technical equipment, and your guide will place all ropes and protection, leaving you to get on with enjoying your spectacular surroundings in complete safety. The day will combine walking, hiking and climbing as you go high into the mountain, and ends with a thorough debrief at the National Ice Climbing Centre. You'll receive a CD-Rom with photos of your day and a mug of hot chocolate, before rewarding your aching limbs with a sauna and steam.

More information

Participant Guidelines: Minimum age is 14 (or 16 Nov to April). No weight or height restrictions, but minimum boot size is adult four, and parental consent is required for under 16s. You must be reasonably fit; as a guide you should be able to hold a 1kg weight at arms length.
Weather: This experience is tailored to suit conditions on the day. Extreme weather would mean either climbing at the indoor centre or postponing. You must call the venue the day before your experience to check on climbing conditions.
Duration: Your experience will last for around ten hours, including briefings and kit issue. You'll be walking, hiking and climbing for a total of nine hours.
Numbers On Day: You'll be accompanied by one other climber, plus your guide.
Spectators: The experience isn't suitable for spectators, but it is perfect for two people - if you'd like to bring a friend along, please call us to upgrade to a voucher for two people.
Dress Code: Dress warmly and bring a change of clothes for when you've completed your climb. Wear warm waterproofs if you have them. Lots of thin layers are much more effective than one large bulky layer. All climbing equipment will be provided.
Availability: This experience is available between April and December. Please allow at least six weeks advance notice for weekend bookings.
Other Info: A higher minimum age applies during the more demanding winter climbing season.
