The Honda Formula 4-Stroke championship is the most exciting offshore powerboat series in the world - these boats are responsive, manoeuvrable and so fast that they fly over the surface. You'll start off with a safety briefing and an introduction to the boat, then it's time to get changed into your safety gear and racing team kit. You'll head out onto Southampton water with an expert driver, usually a current or veteran racer, who'll put the boat through her paces while you hang on tight. You'll get tuition in how to handle the boat, and then about 15 minutes hands-on driving (at the skipper's discretion). The boat operates within Southampton Water and, weather permitting, out onto the Solent.

After a safety briefing you'll board your custom-built Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB). Heading upstream from the London Eye, you'll see the Houses of Parliament before racing back down to Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf, with unrivalled views of Tate Modern, St Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London along the way. Your experienced skipper knows lots of stories about the layers of history that have built up along the river, and you'll be pulling up sharply to learn some of the history behind the landmarks, and entertaining the crowds as you whisk around in 360-degree spins. Your skipper can tell you all about London's darker past too: the bolt holes that tell tales of the criminals chained up to drown at high tide, and the Watergate dungeon entrance, known for over 300 years as 'Traitors Gate', which beckons menacingly!

Built in California, the boat is amazingly graceful and incredibly manoeuvrable. You'll start off with a safety briefing and introduction to the boat - with its hull the same as a class 1 powerboat, she rides on a cushion of air providing a fast, yet comfortable ride. Your crew will usually be veteran powerboat racing champions who know how to get the best out of the Suzuki Hypercat. You'll learn how to control the boat at speeds up to 60mph, then as you head out into open water there's an opportunity to have a go at driving - that should blow a few cobwebs away.

Brutal acceleration, extreme G forces and unpredictable sea conditions all add up to a waterborne motorsport experience like no other. These are lightweight, inflatable catamaran hulls with racing engines attached, developed originally from life saving surf rescue craft and are amazingly stable and secure even at high speeds, round tight corners and in conditions ranging from complete calm to large breaking surf. Your experience will begin with a briefing on safety and handling before you head out onto the water with your instructor for 30 minutes of adrenaline charged action (split into three 10 minute stints).
