NEW The 2008 vintage Ampamakia from Valrhona is again full of exotic fruit, tart flavours with that distinct sherbet edge. A fine blend of beans from the Millot plantation in Madagascar provide the plum, mango and citrus fruits. A very fruity and refreshing, single origin dark chocolate with an additional sharp edge on the finish. We noticed a more rounded flavour in this 2008 vintage compared to the 2007.

Soor Plooms - This is my favourite sweet name ever! But the star of the show isn't the name, it's the sweet - lovely and sour, but in a deliciously fruity yummy way (not in a lip-curling, mouth puckering acid drop way!) Plum-flavoured boiled sweets that hail from Scotland (as if you couldn't tell from the name!) - otherwise known as Sour Plums, but that's just boring... long live the Soor Ploom!!!

Our sweets bring back fond memories of childhood days when the sun shone for longer, when you went everywhere with a whoopee cushion in your back pocket, and when your 6p change from your weekly dose of penny chews went on a copy of Whizzer and Chips. We have around 600 old favourites - from Space Dust to Cherry Lips, Sweet Tobacco to Anglo Bubbly Bubblegum, Candy Necklaces to Blackjacks... Fruit Polos - no - .we didn't think you could still get these either. A real blast from the past in the form of little fruity, poloey, multi-coloured boiled sweets. To celebrate the great Polo, here are some fab bits of trivia for you: Did you know that in Japan the best selling variety of Polo is Plum and Mint flavour? Plum and Mint... eugh. Polos are pressed under the pressure equivalent to two fully grown elephants jumping up and down on them. Ouch. There is a 158ft Polo Tower in Morecambe. We have no idea why! They're called Lifesavers in Australia. That's all for now - anorakky session over for today!
