Catherine Wheels - We love Catherine Wheels here! They\'re long laces of delicious Bassetts liquorice coiled around a Spog (pink, blue, orange or yellow). Great!
But where do they come from? ... we hear you ask! Well, they\'re based on the historic Catherine Wheel - everyone knows them as a traditional firework, but the origins are much more gruesome than that....
Are you sitting comfortably? The original Catherine Wheel was the torture instrument on which St Catherine was martyred in the middle ages.
Who would have thought that eating sweets could be so educational?!
Or, even better, would you prefer a whole box of Catherine Wheels?
If so, you're in luck!

Talk about a sweet becoming an instant legend.
Did anyone in your class used to eat it in lessons? Opening their mouth as it crackled so everyone could hear... until the teacher looked up and silence was restored?
The words "Banana Splits" make you start singing (in your mind of course!)
