Plane travel has become pretty commonplace - and even a bit of chore, with scrums for seats on low-cost airlines and interminable queues and checks. But a helicopter flight is still something that very few people have tried - pretty much reserved for royalty and the super-rich. With this helicopter flight experience you'll join this select club (well, you'll fly in a helicopter, we can't make you a millionaire). After a briefing on helicopter flying techniques and safety, climb aboard a dual-controlled training helicopter, usually a Robinson R22. You'll be accompanied by an expert pilot, so you'll be in safe hands. The vertical take-off is astounding, and the thrills will continue as your pilot shows you how the chopper can move forward, backward, sideways or simply hover motionless in the air. Frankly, it makes planes seem run of the mill! At the pilot's discretion, you'll have the chance to take the controls on your helicopter flight, and feel for yourself the adrenaline rush of manoeuvring these amazing craft.

Availability: Many venues operate seven days a week. Weekends are often very busy and we recommend that you book several weeks in advance.Weather: Helicopter flying is a weather dependent activity, mainly due to wind speeds and cloud base above the ground, and it's essential that you call the venue for a weather check before setting out.Duration: Your safety briefing will last for around 30 minutes. Your flight will last for 25 to 30 minutes, engines-on to engines-off, depending on the venue.Numbers On Day: Your briefing might be shared. Your flight will be held one a one-to-one basis with the instructor.Spectators: Spectators are welcome to watch you take off and land. A pair of binoculars or a camera will come in handy.Dress Code: Please bear in mind that the cockpit can get quite warm and dress accordingly. Bring sunblock and a hat in summer. The experience starts with your feet firmly on the ground and a comprehensive briefing from your expert pilot. You'll chat through any specific requirements so your flight can be tailored to what you want (and how brave you're feeling). Then you'll climb aboard a Pitts Special high-performance aerobatic plane. Hold on tight while your pilot puts the plane through its paces with a breathtaking and stomach-churning full aerobatics sequence (we mean it - for goodness sake don't eat a big meal beforehand!). Then if you want to have a go (and we're pretty sure that you will) your instructor will hand over the controls and you can experience the thrill of flying a plane yourself. Back on terra firma, collect your aerobatics certificate, and make the most of your photo opportunities.
