Your experience starts outside the centre, where your falconer runs through what you can expect from the evening. Then you'll go on a tour of the owl wood, where you'll get to see your first owls in their aviaries, and hear them start their spooky evening calls. You'll be shown how to ride the cart and control the dogs and along with your handler, will get to ride behind a team of two to four dogs through the stunning Darent Valley. Horse riding is a perfect way to spend some quality time together as a family - it's relaxing, outdoorsy and a brilliant way to introduce the kids to a new hobby where parent can also get involved. Novices and experienced riders alike will love this riding day. After being introduced to their ponies the instructor will teach the youngsters how to tack up before heading out for a half hour to one hour lesson within the grounds and an assessment of their abilities in order to best plan a follow up activity. Then the adults get their chance by leading their children on a hack (including walk and trot) in countryside or woodland (cantering is not permitted outside the arenas during initial visits). The children have an hour and a half riding time, followed by soup and sandwiches for all of you - riding can be pretty physical and there's nothing like fresh air to make people hungry! Your instructor (usually a current or veteran racer) will give you full and comprehensive instruction on how to handle the child friendly Honda and in no time you'll be putting the boat through her paces around an offshore racing track. You'll get around twenty minutes of hands on driving time (at the skippers discretion).
